AMAS Data Privacy Policy

The European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), in the context of managing the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, collects and processes the personal data of some of the candidates. In particular, certain data of the scholarship holders (students and staff members) and reserve list candidates is shared with the Agency through the EACEA Mobility Tool and treated according to the following privacy statement.

Please be cautious when receiving any publicity inviting you to apply for an Intra-Africa
scholarship or a message to pay a fee to be selected as a scholarship holder. We have been
informed of numerous attempted scams. Before giving out any personal data, please always
verify that the information comes from a trustworthy source. Please also note that candidates
do not have to pay any fees to benefit from an Intra-Africa scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria for Staff

Eligibility

  1. Academic or administrative staff, hereafter referred to as "staff", must comply with the below criteria:
    1. Work in or be associated with one of the Partner Universities; OR
    2. Be a national and resident in any of the eligible countries covered by the Programme;
  1. Eligible to apply for Staff exchange for a duration of THREE (3) months;
  1. Ability to offer academic, research and/ or administrative service within the confines of the theme: Social Sciences and Governance, relevant to meet the learning outcomes of any of the listed 38 courses of academic mobility (Doc T1-Table of Mobility Courses);
  1. Ability to steer the AMAS Project Staff Mobility objectives and expectations;
  1. Competence in language of course delivery at recipient Partner University.

Both female and male Staff are guaranteed equal eligibility statuses.

Specific Application Details and Requirements

 Requirements:

  1. Application letter justifying contribution to the objectives and expectations of Staff Mobility;
  2. Updated curriculum vitae;
  3. At least two (2) years of teaching experience and/or contribution to academic project work.
  4. Indication of relevance to any course offered by the Recipient University at the time of mobility, that the visiting Staff can co-teach;
  5. At least one publication relevant to the theme of Social Sciences and Governance;
  6. One recommendation from either the Chair of Department, Dean or head of Academic Division;
  7. Evidence of quality work, by any means including staff and students evaluation;
  8. Willingness to give at least one academic talk while at the Partner University;
  9. Willingness to support academic activities including decision making, academic talk, and AMAS Project work, while at host university;
  10. A written and signed commitment of the academic staff to stay in the Partner University and meet the Project expectations.

Applications are called on Tuesday 10th February 2022 and will be closed on  Tuesday 2nd March 2022 at midnight (application window is open for 21 days).

Candidates who will be successful, those on pending lists and unsuccessful applicants will be notified by Thursday 17th March 2022.

What does AMAS stand for?

African Mobility for Sustainable Development: A project for Academic Mobility within African Universities

What field of study is AMAS?

The theme of AMAS Project is “Social Science and Governance”. We expect students and staff with relevance and interest to this theme to apply and serve the AMAS project

Can student from outside AMAS partnership qualify to apply for sponsorship?

Yes they can, as long as they are from a recognizable African university, they can apply as Target-II applicants

Can staff from outside AMAS partnership qualify to apply for academic mobility?

No; we only exchange staff from within the partnership

What is Target-I applicant?

This is either a Master or Doctoral applicant registered in one of the five partner universities (PU)

What is Target-II applicant?

This is either a Master or Doctoral applicant registered in any recognizable African university outside the five partner universities

What is credit seeking academic mobility?

This is academic mobility lasting for a minimum of six months and below 24 months for Master; ending in credits award at the host/ recipient university. Or an academic mobility lasting for a minimum of six months and below 48 months for Doctorate; ending in credits award at the host/ recipient university

What is degree seeking academic mobility?

This is academic mobility lasting for 24 months for Master; ending in a Master degree award at the host/ recipient university. Or an academic mobility lasting for 48 months; ending in a Doctoral degree award at the host/ recipient university

How will credits and degree attained at host/ recipient university count?

Through the signed partnership MoU and signed learning agreements and signed transcripts of records, the home university and institutions are bound to recognise the credits and degree attained at the host/ recipient university

What are Common Fields of Study courses?

Common Fields of Study (CFS) courses are courses carefully selected by all the five partner universities to be undertaken for intra-Africa Academic Mobility, which are universal and commonly found across the partner universities and other universities globally

What are Special Benefits Programme courses?

Special Benefits Programmes (SBP) are courses carefully selected by all the five partner universities to be undertaken for intra-Africa Academic Mobility, which are unique and mostly found only at the host/ recipient university, and not commonly found across the partner universities and other universities globally

Where and who does one apply to?

For any call announced, the staff apply to the focal person (FP) of their home partner university for consideration for selection. However, the students apply to the host/ recipient partner university focal person.
